Rene LaVice is a Canadian drum and bass artist from Toronto. He works across drum and bass, electronic, breakbeat, breaks and deep house, and his output also touches techstep and liquid funk.
Career
LaVice starts out in production through hip hop, and his long-standing interest in soulful, jazzy drum and bass shapes early releases. His debut EP is The Future EP. He then releases material across different styles, including the electro-influenced two-step track “Save Me” on Stride and the harder “In Limbo” on DNA.
He is the first artist signed to Stride Recordings. He also works in the studio with other artists, including Gremlinz of Renegade Hardware, along with label mates and various vocalists.
Labels and collaborations
LaVice is associated with DeVice and RAM Records. His work with Stride Recordings marks an early label connection, and collaboration is a recurring part of his production practice.
Style
His releases vary in genre and approach from track to track, but they are described as maintaining a consistent focus on quality and melody.
