Pan-Pot

Pan-Pot is a Berlin techno and minimal techno group consisting of Tassilo Ippenberger and Thomas Benedix. The act is associated with Mobilee, the Berlin label whose rise parallels their own early development, and it also releases on Einmaleins. Graduates of Berlin’s SAE, they develop a sound that combines electronic experimentation with minimal stylings and a dark, murky character.

The group begins to build its profile in 2005 after booking Anja Schneider for a party and connecting with her then newly formed imprint. Within weeks, it releases the Popy and Caste EP on Mobilee, its first release and the label’s second. In the years that follow, Pan-Pot issues a steady run of originals and remixes on Mobilee and Einmaleins, with a focus on precise, undulating grooves and an expanding sonic range.

Its debut artist album, Pan-O-Rama, is the first artist album released on Mobilee. The record presents a broad view of the group’s techno approach, balancing sombre atmosphere with a light touch and pointing toward a stripped-down style with a stronger melodic element. Pan-Pot also tours extensively and performs DJ sets back to back, moving between techno, house and related sounds. Its productions are marked by heavy, haunting textures, static, bass lines and large builds that remain controlled and restrained.
