Marco Carola

Marco Carola is a techno and tech house DJ and producer from Napoli, Italy, born in 1975. He is active in the development of the Neapolitan electronic scene from the early 1990s and helps carry that city’s techno sound to a wider international audience.

Career

Carola is associated with minimal techno, tech house and techno. He releases music on labels including Minus, Plus 8, 2M and Primate Recordings, and heads or has headed imprints such as Design Music, Zenit, Question, One Thousands and Do.Mi.No. He is also linked with C & G Southsystem and Shock System.

As a producer, he has five albums, including Play It Loud. He also issues mix compilations, including a Fabric mix in 2006, a Time Warp compilation in 2009, and Party Animals for Cocoon in 2010, mixed with Nick Curly.

DJ style and reputation

Carola is known for a three-deck mixing style and long sets, often extending beyond eight hours. His work as a DJ and label figure places him among the better-known names in techno, with a following that spans clubs and festivals in Europe, the Americas and beyond.
