Le Vent du Nord
Le Vent du Nord is a folk and néo-trad group from Montréal, Québec, active since 2002. The group performs both original material written by its members and traditional Québécois tunes, and it sometimes brings in elements from pop and jazz.
Members
The group comprises Nicolas Boulerice, André Brunet, Réjean Brunet, Olivier Demers and Simon Beaudry. Its instrumental and vocal roles include diatonic accordion, acoustic bass, jaw harp, hurdy-gurdy, piano, piano-accordion, fiddle, guitar, bouzouki, vocals and foot tapping.
Recordings
Le Vent du Nord releases music on La Compagnie Du Nord. Its studio albums include Maudite Moisson!, Les Amants du Saint-Laurent and Le Part du Feu. The group also issues live recordings, including Mesdames et Messieurs and Le Vent du Nord Symphonique.
Awards and recognition
The group wins Ensemble of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards in 2010. Its album Le Part du Feu is also nominated at the JUNO Awards.
