Laidback Luke

Laidback Luke is the performance name of Luke van Scheppingen, a Dutch DJ and producer born in 1976 in Manila, Netherlands. He grows up in the Netherlands and first makes his name as a graffiti artist before moving into music.

Music and style

His work spans electro house, electronic, house and progressive house. He develops an interest in composers such as Mozart and Beethoven at a young age, and he says he tries to bring some of their sound into his own music.

Releases and collaborations

He releases two studio albums, Psyched Up and Electronic Satisfaction, and also issues the mix album Windmill Skill. He remixes Daft Punk’s “Crescendolls” for the group’s remix project Daft Club. He also works with David Guetta, Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso and Junior Sanchez.

Career highlights

He plays shows across Europe and North America, as well as in Japan and Ibiza. In 2010, he is voted number 17 in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJ list. He releases music on Mixmash and Subspace.
