Josh Wink
Josh Wink, also known as Winx, Wink and E-Culture, is an electronic music DJ, producer, remixer and label owner from Philadelphia, United States. Born Joshua Winkelman in 1970, he is associated with acid breaks, acid house, big beat, electronic, house, rave, techno, minimal and tech house.
Career
Wink becomes known as a pioneering DJ in the American rave scene during the early 1990s. He is described as a leading U.S. figure in the tribal forms of techno and house. He also runs Ovum Recordings.
Releases and chart success
In 1995, Wink releases a run of club records that include “Don't Laugh”, “I'm Ready” and “Higher State of Consciousness”. “I'm Ready” reaches number one on the U.S. Hot Dance Club Play chart, while “Higher State of Consciousness” tops the dance charts in Europe.
Collaborations and remixes
Wink also gains attention for club tracks such as “How's Your Evening So Far?” with Lil Louis and “Superfreak (Freak)”. In addition, he remixes records by FC Kahuna, Paul Oakenfold, Moby, Towa Tei, Ladytron and Depeche Mode.
