Jesus Jones are an English alternative rock group from Bradford on Avon, active from 1988 to the present. The band is led by singer-songwriter Mike Edwards and includes Iain Baker, Jerry De Borg, Alan Doughty and Gen.

Style and scene

They work within alternative dance and grebo, combining alternative rock with electronic styles such as house and techno. Along with British acts including The Shamen, Pop Will Eat Itself and EMF, they are associated with the early 1990s alternative dance scene.

Career and recordings

Jesus Jones are best known for their early 1990s crossover singles Right Here Right Now and Real Real Real, which both reach the Top 40 in the UK and the US. They release six studio albums and two live albums, and their latest studio album, Culture Vulture, appears in 2004 on Mi5 Recordings. They also record through Jesus Jones Recordings.

Legacy

Their blend of guitar rock and electronic production makes them one of the more recognisable names in the alternative dance movement, and they are said to influence later bands including His Boy Elroy. They continue to tour.
