Gareth Richards

Gareth Richards is a British stand-up comedian known for observational comedy and one-liners. He appears on Frank Skinner’s Absolute Radio show on Saturday mornings and has performed across the UK comedy circuit.

Career and recognition

In 2007, Richards reaches the final of the Hackney Empire New Act of the Year competition and is also a runner-up in both You Must Be Joking at the Newbury Comedy Festival and the Amused Moose Laugh-Off at the Edinburgh Festival. In 2008, he is nominated for the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year award and later joins the Comedy Reserve, the Pleasance-run Edinburgh Festival showcase. In 2009, he appears in the Comedy Zone at the Edinburgh Festival, and in 2010 he is nominated for Best Newcomer at the Chortle Awards.

Work at the Edinburgh Festival

Richards takes his debut solo show, Gareth Richards: Stand Up Between Songs, to the Edinburgh Comedy Festival. His appearances there place him within several established showcase strands, including Comedy Reserve and the Comedy Zone.
