Gareth Emery

Gareth Emery is a British electronic music DJ and producer from Southampton, England. Born in 1980, he works in trance and related styles, including progressive trance, melodic trance, vocal trance and progressive house.

Career

He starts to attract wider attention in the early 2000s and appears in the DJ Mag Top 100 Poll, reaching number 23 in 2008, number 9 in 2009 and number 7 in 2010. He is tipped by Paul van Dyk and Ferry Corsten as a future star, and he becomes a regular name on the international club circuit.

Emery performs at clubs and events around the world, including Ministry of Sound, Gatecrasher, Zouk, Bondi Beach in Sydney, Love Fest in San Francisco and Trance Energy in the Netherlands. He also spends time in his Cambridgeshire studio, where he works as a producer and remixer.

Releases, remixes and labels

He releases tracks including Exposure, Metropolis, More Than Anything, Formentera What and Mistral. He is also known for remixes, including a version of Oceanlab’s Lonely Girl that appears on the Oceanlab Remixed album.

In 2009, Emery launches the Garuda label. Much of his music is also released on Five AM, where he is a co-owner and A&R. He also works with labels associated with Paul van Dyk and Armin van Buuren, including Vandit and Armind.

Podcast and broadcasting

Emery begins The Gareth Emery Podcast in early 2006 as a fortnightly radio show. It becomes widely downloaded and influential among dance music listeners, and in 2007 it receives a nomination for Best Podcast at the Miami WMC IDMA Awards.

Collaborators

He works with a range of collaborators and vocalists, including his sister Roxanne Emery. He also receives support from artists such as Tiësto, Oakenfold, Ferry Corsten, Judge Jules, Paul van Dyk and Armin van Buuren.
