Corrosion Of Conformity is an American heavy metal band from Raleigh, North Carolina, formed in 1982. It begins as a hardcore punk group before moving towards a slower, blues-influenced heavy metal sound. The band is active from 1982 to the present and has undergone many line-up changes, with guitarist Woody Weatherman as the only constant member.

The classic line-up is usually taken to be Weatherman, founding bassist Mike Dean, founding drummer Reed Mullin, and vocalist and rhythm guitarist Pepper Keenan. Keenan joins the band in 1989. Other members across the group’s history include Eric Eycke, Simon Bob Sinister, Phil Swisher, Karl Agell, Jimmy Bower, Merrit Partridge, Stanton Moore, Jason Patterson, Bobby Landgraf and Nick Shabatura.

Corrosion Of Conformity releases ten studio albums, four EPs, one compilation and one live album. Its early albums include Eye for an Eye , Animosity and Blind, which draw the attention of Columbia Records, leading to a deal in 1993. The 1994 album Deliverance becomes its breakthrough release, reaching number 155 on the Billboard 200 and producing the songs “Albatross” and “Clean My Wounds”.

The follow-up, Wiseblood, also charts successfully and becomes the band’s highest-charting album in the United States at the time, peaking at number 104 on the Billboard 200. After a hiatus in 2006, the band returns in 2010 without Keenan, before announcing his reunion with the group in December 2014. No Cross No Crown is issued on Nuclear Blast Records and becomes the first Corrosion Of Conformity album to enter the Billboard 200 top 100, peaking at number 67.

The band’s style is identified with heavy metal, alternative metal, crossover thrash, stoner metal, stoner rock and thrash metal. Candlelight Records is also listed among its labels.
