Chicken Shed Zeppelin

Chicken Shed Zeppelin is a Brighton-based bluegrass band that begins in 2003 as a solo project for Matt, who performs banjo and sings at open mic nights. The name comes from a drunken remark by a friend after an audience member hears a resemblance to Led Zeppelin in the banjo playing between songs.

The act first develops into a duo with the addition of old-time fiddler Ade, then becomes a trio when Dave joins on git-tar. It later expands into a five-piece band, with Felix on double bass and a mandolin player described as a major talent. Felix leaves in 2012, and Young Dave takes over on double bass.

The band describes its style as bluecrass, blending bluegrass with a broader, informal approach to acoustic performance.
