Bondax

Bondax are a UK electronic group made up of Adam Joseph Kaye and George Joseph Townsend. They begin as teenagers in Lancaster, and their early development takes place away from a large local music scene, which pushes them to build their own sound through collaboration and experimentation.

Style and influences

Their music draws on electronic, future garage and related club styles, with influences that also include folk, indie and experimental music. Their tracks are described as combining broad harmonies, unusual song structures and reflective lyrics. A defining part of their approach is the deliberate use of slower tempos, which gives their music a sensual, melodic feel and sets it apart from faster contemporary house music.

Early development and club influences

As they develop their sound, Bondax spend time in Manchester’s club scene, where they absorb ideas that shape their work. A formative moment comes when George Townsend is 17 and sees Canadian bass-house producer Jacques Greene perform, an experience that helps inform the duo’s post-dubstep and melodic direction.

Later activity

Bondax release music through Future Disco Label in 2023 and receive support from BBC 6, Spotify NMF and international performances. In 2024 they mark their first vinyl release and appear at Ministry of Sound. Their album Journey brings together eight singles, including “I Only Have You”, “Don’t Want It”, “Fade” featuring SHELLS, “Yabaal To London” with Dur Dur Band, “Energy” featuring Andreya Triana, and the title track “Journey” featuring Mysie. The album also includes remixes from other artists and receives support on BBC 6Music playlists and digital streaming platforms.
