Bob Hall is an English boogie-woogie pianist from Surrey, born in 1942. He is a blues musician whose work spans band leadership, long-term collaborations and extensive session and sideman playing.

Career

Hall is known for his long association with Alexis Korner and for regular performances with bottleneck blues player Dave Kelly and Kelly’s sister, Jo Ann Kelly. He is a founder member of several British blues groups, including The Groundhogs, Tramp, the Brunning Sunflower Blues Band and the DeLuxe Blues Band. He is also a long-serving member of Savoy Brown and appears as a guest with The Blues Band, alongside Paul Jones, Dave Kelly and Tom McGuinness.

Rocket 88 and other projects

With Ian Stewart, Hall helps found the Boogie Woogie Big Band, which later becomes Rocket 88. The group includes Hal Singer, Don Weller and Dick Morrissey among its jazz players, and also features Charlie Watts, Alexis Korner and Jack Bruce. He is also a member of Tramp and Rocket 88.

As a sideman, Hall accompanies a wide range of blues artists, including John Lee Hooker, Howlin’ Wolf, Little Walter, Jimmy Witherspoon, Chuck Berry, Homesick James, Lightnin' Slim, Lowell Fulsom, Charlie Musselwhite, Snooky Pryor, J. B. Hutto, Lazy Lester, Dave Peabody, Baby Boy Warren, Eddie “Guitar” Burns, Eddie Taylor, Big John Wrencher, Mickey Baker and Eddy Clearwater. He also works and records with Peter Green, Danny Kirwan and Mick Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mac.
