Wannasee cancels handful of UK festivals

Wannasee Ltd has cancelled several events including its Kubix Festival and Monument Festival in Sunderland, along with its Wannasee South and Wannasee Penrith events.

In a statement, the company said it was heartbroken to call off the events and that “despite enormous efforts behind the scenes”, recent developments had made it impossible to continue. It said the impact of a difficult trading environment, combined with a sudden collapse in customer confidence, had left the business unable to recover.

It said, “It is with deep regret that we confirm Wannasee Ltd will not be able to continue, and we must announce the cancellation of the following festivals: Kubix and Monument Festivals in Sunderland, Wannasee Penrith and Wannasee South, Jukebox Sunderland and Jukebox Bingley, Sign of the Times, Stone Valley South, Stone Valley Midlands and Stone Valley North.”

Shaggy and Blue were among the acts poised to play the 5,000-capacity Kubix Festival at Sunderland’s Herrington County Park on 12 July. Since it was launched in 2018, acts including East 17, Peter Andre, Ronan Keating, Sugababes, and Busted have performed there. Wannasee had planned to stage its Monument Festival at the site the following week with a lineup including Doves and Yard Act.

The Wannasee Penrith event, set to be held at Hutton-in-the-Forest, was scheduled for 21-14 August.

The statement from Wannasee confirmed that the Lindisfarne Festival and Northern Kin events are to go ahead.
