About MacMoray Family Festival
MacMoray Family Festival began in Cooper Park in 2022, first running as MacMoray Easter Festival. The 2027 edition takes the Main Arena at Cooper Park, Elgin, from 30 April to 2 May 2027 for a three-day music weekender. The site runs at around 10,000 people per day.
MacMoray expanded in 2023 with two large outdoor stages, more bars, more food and drink stalls, and a funfair. In 2025 it won Festival of the Year at the Scottish Live Music Awards. The 2027 edition carries The Big Weekender name.
Lineup and Programme
The bill moves between electronic, indie, pop, R&B and rock. Announced acts include Billy Ocean, Feeder, Ian Van Dahl, The Vamps, The Coral and JLS. Music runs across multiple stages.
The programme also takes in food and drink stalls, a funfair and family entertainment such as face painting.
Who Is It For?
MacMoray is set up for an all-ages, multi-generational crowd with a regional pull across Scotland and beyond. Children 15 and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Sixteen- and 17-year-olds may attend unaccompanied, but bar and marquee areas are off limits.
Infant tickets cover ages four and under. The family angle is reinforced by the funfair, face painting and other kids' activities from earlier editions.
The Venue and Site
The Main Arena sits inside Cooper Park, a public park with landscaped grounds, riverside walks, play equipment, seating, tennis courts, a bowling green and a cricket pitch. On the festival site there are bars, food stalls, toilets, disabled toilets, an accessible viewing point and large-screen viewing.
Overnight stays are limited to self-contained motorhomes. There are no toilet or shower facilities, electricity, water feed, grey-water disposal or chemical disposal for those pitches. Caravan users need a motorhome slot plus a car park slot at Moray College UHI.
