Liverpool Arab Arts Festival was founded in 1998 and has developed to provide a programme full of Arabic arts and culture for the local community. A partnership between the Bluecoat arts space and Liverpool Arabic Centre has led to a large event which brings many of the city’s arts venues and institutions, celebrating Arab music, arts, film and culture.
As well as music and arts, the festival is an opportunity to debate and get involved in workshops and events which focus on awareness of and promoting the society and culture of Arab people. Audiences of both Arab and non-Arab people can enjoy the vibrancy of the culture and its arts and theatre.
The festival was awarded the British Council’s Culture and Society Award in 2010 for its outstanding contribution to the British public’s knowledge and understanding of the culture of the Arab people.
