Haslemere Fringe 2026

The Haslemere Fringe Festival takes place from 3–5 July 2026 at Lion Green, near Lion Lane, Haslemere, Surrey. This volunteer-run, not-for-profit event brings the green to life with music, art, and community activities for all ages.

Music and Entertainment

Enjoy live performances across multiple stages featuring rock, indie, folk, acoustic, and jazz. The festival also hosts comedy, dance, theatre, poetry, and storytelling, creating a lively atmosphere throughout the weekend.

Family Activities

Family-friendly attractions include Punch and Judy shows, magic, roving entertainers, creative workshops, a gentle funfair, and pony-led storytelling with goats and horses, providing safe and engaging fun for children.

Food and Drink

Sample a variety of local food and drink stalls offering wood-fired pizza, gourmet burgers, homemade cakes, ice cream, lemonade, coffee, and an evening beer tent with beer and cider. Many visitors enjoy picnicking on the green while watching the entertainment.

Community Spirit

Organised by local volunteers, the Haslemere Fringe supports community causes and offers a friendly village-fete atmosphere where visitors can relax and connect during the summer weekend.

Haslemere is easily reached by public transport. The town’s railway station, on the Portsmouth–London main line, offers frequent direct trains to London Waterloo (about 1 hour) and Portsmouth (about 30 minutes). Lion Green (the festival site) is only about 15 minutes’ walk from Haslemere station. Local bus routes also serve Haslemere from nearby towns and villages; visitors can check Traveline or local timetables for routes into Haslemere. The nearest bus stops on Weyhill and Lion Lane are a short walk from the site.

By car, Haslemere sits just off the A3 motorway. If coming from London or the M25, take the A3 south toward Portsmouth and exit at Haslemere (signposted Weyhill). From the south coast, take the A3 northbound. Follow local signs to Lion Green or the town centre. There is no on-site parking at the festival, but public car parks a short walk away (for example on Weydown Road, Tanners Lane or opposite Trotton House on Weyhill) are available for festival-goers. Traffic can be busy around event time, so allow extra time and consider car-sharing if possible.

The nearest major airports are London Gatwick (about 40 minutes’ drive from Haslemere) and Heathrow (around 1 hour via the M25 and A3). From either airport, visitors can rent a car or take a train: Gatwick has services to London or Brighton, connecting to Haslemere, and Heathrow can connect via London or reading. Southampton Airport (about 1 hour away) and Gatwick may offer convenient flights, and hired cars or coaches can reach Haslemere via the A27 and A3.

Accommodation in and around Haslemere suits many budgets and tastes. The town offers charming bed-and-breakfasts, country inns and small hotels near the centre or countryside; booking early for festival weekend is recommended. Self-catering cottages are also available in the picturesque Surrey Hills. Nearby towns such as Farnham or Guildford have larger hotels and are just a short drive or train ride away if local places are full. Wherever you choose to stay, Haslemere’s compact centre means you can easily walk to Lion Green, restaurants and shops when the festival ends for the day.
