The event that became the Cosmic Puffin Festival, was not really supposed to be a festival. The organiser had a friend whose small daughter was ill and spent a number of days in the intensive care unit at St Mary's Hospital. There was a charity that provided funds for the parents to allow them to stay close to the hospital in lodgings giving them easy access to visit their poorly children. The organiser decided to put on a benefit concert to raise some money for this charity - called, incidentally COSMIC or Children of St Mary's Intensive Care. The daughter of the event organiser's driend was moved to Basildon Hospital's children's ward to recuperate, with, as we are sure you can guess, had the very cute name of Puffin. Hence Cosmic Puffin Festival was born.
It returns again in 2018 for another fun day of interesting and exciting music.
