Brainchild Festival

Brainchild Festival was launched in 2012 and is a grassroots, multi-arts event which offers a platform for the talented local community as well as inviting acts from around the country and beyond. It has a focus on the sharing of artistic ideas including music, visual arts, installations, film, debate, workshops, interactive theatre, comedy and more.

Brainchild is back for its third festival, after a year out and is running from 10th until 12th July. Many acts have already been announced including Matthew Halsall, Shabaka Hutchings, Stuart McCallum & Rioghnach Connolly, Catching Flies, Moses Boyd, Harry Baker, Shivum Sharma, Alex Burey, Port Isla, Wayward, Tom Misch (DJ set), Elder Island, Wooden Arms, La Petite Mort, Mokadem, James Massiah, Jerkcurb, Nomad Soul, HYLA, Puma Rosa, Poppy Ajudha, Oscar Laurence, Pedaler, Jacob Allen, Ben Hayes, Capua Collective, Haraket, Tank and the Bangas, The Busy Twist, PECS, Jemima Foxtrot, Joshua Idehen, Tommy Sissons, 'Finding Home' by Cecilia Knapp, Body Forest, New Funk Poets, SWOU, Bristol Skipchen: The Real Junk Food Project, Rethinking Economics, Filming the Unfilmable, Skin Deep: Sound System Unplugged, Life Drawing with Bella, Singing with Lilli Unwin, Falling With Style, Stop-Motion Animation Workshop, Yoga Sessions, Emily Motto's Cocoons, Joe Melhuish's Paintings, and Eye Want Change, with many more also to be added.

There is also an impressive spoken word and theatre line up including Joshua Idehen, Jemima Foxtrot, Bridget Minamore, The New Funk Poets (James Massiah, Belinda Zhawi, Brother Portrait, Andrea Phillips), Tommy Sissons, Paul Cree, Rosie Knight, Slam The Poet, Jack Rooke's show 'Good Grief', Cecilia Knapp's show 'Finding Home', Troupe's 'Dead Moon', 'PECS', Maria Ferguson's 'Fat Girls Don't Dance', Theatre with Legs': 'Maybe I Should Freeze My Eggs', Tight Theatre's 'PUSSY', Big Spoon Theatre's 'Jane Doe' and innovative puppetry company Mirth & Misery.
