What is Hyper Japan?

Running since 2010, Hyper Japan is the UK's largest Japanese culture festival, pulling in more than 30,000 people over the weekend. For 2026 it takes over the Grand Hall at Olympia London, and it's shaping up to be the biggest edition yet with over 530 exhibitors in the Hyper Market alone.

It's the kind of event where you turn up planning to stay a couple of hours and end up losing the whole day. There's genuinely something for everyone — whether you're deep into anime, here for the food, or just fancy trying something completely different.

Live music and performances

The music line-up is stacked with top Japanese talent, including QUEEN BEE (known for their anime tie-ins with Tokyo Ghoul:re, OSHI NO KO and Chainsaw Man), anime singing legend Eir Aoi, and THE SIXTH LIE. Expect J-pop, live sets and stage performances across the weekend.

Food and drink

The Food Hall is worth the ticket on its own. Come hungry for takoyaki, yakisoba, onigiri, sashimi and melon-pan, then wash it down with matcha, or head to the sake exhibitors for a tasting or two.

Workshops, cosplay and gaming

Get hands-on with workshops covering calligraphy, origami, kintsugi, the Japanese tea ceremony and kimono dressing (these need a separate add-on ticket, and spaces go fast). Hyper Japan is also one of the UK's biggest cosplay gatherings, with a fashion show and cosplay contest across Saturday and Sunday. New for 2026 is a dedicated gaming area showcasing Japan's indie developers, plus a Nintendo booth and a Hatsune Miku booth to keep the fans happy.
