Zoviet France

Zoviet France is a music group from Newcastle upon Tyne, in north east England. The group is active from 1980 and is associated with dark ambient, experimental electronic, industrial and post-industrial music. Its work is also often placed within ambient and drone contexts.

Names and style

The group is also known as :$OVIET:FRANCE:, Soviet France, :Zoviet-France: and, later, usually as :zoviet*france:. Its music is often dissonant and built from industrial textures, with ambient elements alongside its harsher electronic work.
