Yousef is a UK dance music DJ, producer, remixer and promoter associated with house, deep house, tech house and techno. He is also a record label owner and club-night organiser. He works under the name 10,000 BC.

Career

Yousef has been active in dance music since the late 1990s and becomes known for a style that moves between classic house groove and techno energy. As a DJ, he uses a three-deck setup without a computer. He also works as a live concept developer, promoter and radio figure, with a career that combines club performance, production and label work.

His DJ work includes long-running activity in Ibiza, where he DJs consistently from 1998 and holds a residency with Carl Cox at the Space party Revolution, alongside appearances at Circo Loco at DC-10. He also appears at clubs and events in the UK and abroad, including the Warehouse Project and Global Gathering in the UK, Fabrik in Madrid, Kristal in Bucharest, venues in Helsinki and Italy, and Duel Beat in Naples. In South America he plays in Argentina, Chile and Brazil, including D-Edge and Warung. He also appears at Ultra Music events in Miami, São Paulo, Warsaw and Seoul, and tours Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

Production and releases

As a producer, Yousef releases music on labels including Intec, Cecille, Saved, Monique Musique and Cocoon. Cocoon releases his track

Come Home

as a key release in his catalogue. He finishes a second full artist album that adds more musically focused tracks, self-written vocal material and dancefloor tracks to his output. His work is supported by DJs including Loco Dice, Magda, Nic Fanciulli, Carl Cox, Guti and Uner.

Circus Recordings and Circus

Yousef runs Circus Recordings, which issues music by artists including Sven Väth, Four Tet, Gilles Peterson, Santos and Yousef himself. The label also signs a single by DJ Sneak and supports newer artists including Maher Daniel, Tom Flynn, Yostek, Doomwork and Acid Mondays, with Acid Mondays discovered by Yousef. Circus is also the name of his club night, which becomes a regular part of the UK club scene and features a mix of established and emerging electronic artists.

Style and role

His work spans DJing, production, promotion, label management and music education through club performance. He is known for combining the swing of house with the drive of techno, and for extended sets as well as more direct dancefloor-oriented performances. He continues to develop both a live concept and a return to global radio.
