Wolf People
Wolf People are an English psychedelic rock band from the United Kingdom, based in London, Bedford and North Yorkshire. The group forms in 2006 and consists of Joe Hollick, Jack Sharp and Tom Watt.
The band begins around the release of a very limited CD EP on Sea Records as part of the Lifeboat Series. That EP is named record of the week by Stuart Maconie on his BBC6 show. Wolf People then release three 7-inch singles on Battered Ornaments Records, which sell out quickly and become sought after. They receive praise in psych-focused publications including Shindig magazine and Terrascope.com.
Their sound is rooted in blues rock, with elements of folk, jazz, kraut and country. The band cites Captain Beefheart, Can, Pentangle, Dungen, Amon Düül II and Television among its influences. In 2009, Wolf People sign to Jagjaguwar Records and release the singles collection Tidings and their debut full-length album Steeple.
