W&W

W&W are a Dutch trance duo from Utrecht, formed in 2007 by Wardt van der Harst and Willem van Hanegem. Their sound is described as a mix of big room trance with a techy edge, and their work spans trance, progressive trance, tech trance, hard trance, big room house, happy hardcore and electronic music. They are active on Rave Culture.

Formation and early work

The duo forms after a chance meeting at Trance Energy in 2007. Before working together, both artists produce their own tracks, including titles such as Ensure, Show my Shuffle, Origin and Stab My Speaker. Their first W&W production is Mustang, followed by Dome and Arena, the latter appearing on the Armin Only DVD.

Releases and collaborations

W&W's early productions gain support from DJs including Tiësto, Ferry Corsten, Markus Schulz, Sander Van Doorn and Judge Jules. Their catalogue includes Mainstage, the Sean Tyas remix of D.N.A, and Synergy, a collaboration with Ummet Ozcan. They also remix tracks for Armin van Buuren, Little Boots, Sander van Doorn, Leon Bolier and Sied van Riel.

DJ work and radio show

As DJs, W&W play at major trance events and festivals including Poland's Sunrise Festival, the A State Of Trance 400 shows, and a performance alongside Tiësto at a stadium event in Kiev. They also present Mainstage, a monthly radio show broadcast on Afterhours FM, where it appears in a revised format with competitions, features and interviews and airs on the second and fourth Monday of each month.

Reputation

Armin van Buuren describes them as the best up-and-coming production duo in the scene. Their early rise takes them from their first meeting and debut productions to regular international club, arena and festival appearances within a few years.
