Vetiver
Vetiver is a folk band from San Francisco, United States, active since 2002. The group is headed by songwriter Andy Cabic and is often joined by Devendra Banhart, cellist Alissa Anderson, violinist Jim Gaylord, Brent Dunn and Sanders Trippe. Its music sits within freak folk, indie folk and jam band, with acoustic and indie folk elements also associated with the band.
History
The band takes its name from the grass vetiver. Before moving to San Francisco, Andy Cabic plays in the North Carolina indie rock band The Raymond Brake, which releases records on the Simple Machines label. Vetiver’s debut album, Vetiver, appears in 2004 on the indie folk label DiCristina. The group later tours extensively and works with Devendra Banhart and Joanna Newsom.

Vetiver is described as having a surreal, tender, accessible, quirky and warm sound, and is associated with folk, indie, freak folk and New Weird America. The band also releases music on Vetiverse Music.
