Trevor Hall

Trevor Hall is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist from Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. His music combines roots, folk and reggae, and his songs often focus on spirituality and life exploration.

Early life and education

Hall grows up in a musical family: his father is a drummer and musician. For one of his teenage birthdays, he is given studio time by his father through a friend, and he makes his first record, which is mainly sold to friends and family. He later studies classical guitar at Idyllwild School for the Arts, an international boarding school east of Los Angeles.

Recording career

In his senior year of high school, Hall signs a record deal with Geffen Records. After graduation, he moves to Los Angeles and works with producers including John Alagia and The Laboriel Brothers. Although he makes recordings with Geffen, only an EP is issued; the rest do not appear, and he is dropped by the label in 2008.

After leaving Geffen, Hall tours and performs with acts including Steel Pulse, The Wailers, Matisyahu, Stevie Nicks, Ben Harper, Colbie Caillat, Los Lobos, Ziggy Marley and Rusted Root.

Albums

KALA is written in Hawaii and recorded in Los Angeles. It is released in 2015 and reaches No. 2 on the iTunes singer-songwriter chart. The Fruitful Darkness follows in 2018 and is his first completely independent release.
