Travis

Travis are a Scottish alternative rock band from Glasgow, formed in 1990 and active since then. The group includes Fran Healy on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Dougie Payne on bass guitar and backing vocals, Andy Dunlop on lead guitar, banjo and backing vocals, Neil Primrose on drums and percussion, and Jason Falkner. Their name comes from Travis Henderson, the character played by Harry Dean Stanton in the film Paris, Texas (1984).

Albums and chart success

The band’s debut album, Good Feeling (1997), reaches number nine on the UK Albums Chart and later receives silver certification from the British Phonographic Industry. Their second album, The Man Who (1999), spends nine weeks at number one in the UK and remains in the chart for 134 weeks in total. In 2003 it is certified nine-times platinum in the UK. The Invisible Band (2001) also debuts at number one in the UK and reaches number 39 on the US Billboard 200; it is certified four-times platinum by the British Phonographic Industry.

Later releases include 12 Memories (2003), The Boy with No Name (2007), Ode to J. Smith (2008), Where You Stand (2013), Everything at Once (2016), 10 Songs (2020), and L.A. Times (2024), as well as the compilation Singles (2004).

Awards and recognition

Travis receive two Brit Awards for best band, the NME Artist of the Year award at the 2000 NME ceremony, and recognition at the 2016 Scottish Music Awards for outstanding contribution to music.
