Named acts and aliases

Byron Bay band

One TORA is an alt/electronica and indie pop five-piece from Byron Bay, Australia. It releases the EP TΩRA through Bandcamp.

Japanese experimental artist

Another Tora is an alias of 虹釜太郎, a Japanese experimental artist associated with release activity on Shi-Ra-Nui (不知火).

Eurobeat project

Tora is also an eurobeat alias used by Roberta Graná for Sinclairestyle Company. Under this name, the single “Flame And Fire” appears.

Croatian new wave group

Tora is the name of a Croatian 1980s dark synth and new wave group. The lineup includes Saša Mićunović on guitar and vocals, Dragan Simonovski on drums, Darko Anić on synth and Mladen Megyery on bass. The group lasts less than a year, releases the album Tora! Tora! Tora! in 1983, and then disbands.

Tora Fisher

Tora Fisher is a New York City singer-songwriter whose debut album Spilling Over is released in 2012 through LML Music/Allegro. She writes or co-writes all of the songs on the record and produces it with Michael Mugrage, who also co-writes several tracks. The album features Seth Glassman on bass and Frank Vilardi on drums.

Her songs on Spilling Over include “Dirty Secret”, “Summer Eyes”, “Nothing”, “For Dead”, “Finally Free”, “Own The Skies”, “And I Won’t Cry” and “Second Tree From The Corner”. The album is written in New York City and recorded at Carriage House Studios.

Fisher grows up around music and the arts as the daughter of Broadway producers, with early singing and dance lessons. She attends summer sessions at the Interlochen Academy for the Arts, studies at Choate Rosemary Hall, where she serves as lead in the school musical, starts a dance troupe and graduates with Cum Laude Society honours, and then enrols at Columbia University before taking leave to focus on music. She later performs aboard the USS Intrepid and in New York, and releases the single “Man of Steel”, with proceeds going to veterans and their families.

Her work centres on loss, trauma and survival, shaped by a plane crash in which she is the sole survivor. She describes music as central to her recovery, and many of the songs on Spilling Over deal with heartache, relationships, post-traumatic stress and family memory.

Norwegian band TORA

TORA is also a Norwegian blues-influenced pop and rock band fronted by guitarist and singer Tora Dahle Aagård. The songs are written by Aagård, sometimes with Andreas Dahle Aagård. Its first full album appears in 2019. In October 2018, Aagård becomes the first female guitarist to sign a sponsorship deal with Chapman Guitars.
