The Wind-Up Birds
The Wind-Up Birds are a Leeds-based group active since 2003. They take their name from a book by Japanese writer Haruki Murakami and perform a sound described as angular post-punk. The band plays in venues across Yorkshire and has released material on Sturdy Records, including the singles Tyre Fire / There Won’t Always Be an England and the EP Courage, for Tomorrow Will Be Worse.
Their songs deal with life, death, love, loss, saving the world, drinking, working-class inertia and cats.
