The Wild Mercury Sound
The Wild Mercury Sound are a UK indie rock group. They emerge with debut single “Miss Frost” in October 2011, following a year of low-key live appearances that include sold-out shows at London’s Barfly. The single brings them wider attention, with Steve Lamacq naming them his New Band of the Week on his BBC 6 Music show and “Miss Frost” winning the Rebel Playlist. The band then issue “Slow” in March as a follow-up single and a preview of their debut album, which is due in Summer 2012.
“Slow” is produced by Peter Miles, whose credits include Dry The River and King Blues. The track is described as another heavy-guitar song with controlled vocals, and the band draw comparisons with Jeff Buckley, Jane’s Addiction and Radiohead. Online coverage also praises the band’s sound and marks them out as one to watch. Lamacq describes “Miss Frost” as sounding like a scene from Fight Club playing in the listener’s head.
