The Wave Pictures

The Wave Pictures are an English lo-fi rock group formed in Wymeswold, Leicestershire, in 1998. The group is based in London and consists of David Tattersall on vocals and guitar, Franic Rozycki on bass guitar, and Jonny Helm on drums, who is also referred to as Johnny “Huddersfield” Helm.

Origins and line-up

The band develops out of a project called Blind Summit, formed by Tattersall and Rozycki with Hugh Noble. The first line-up records and self-releases a run of albums before the group settles in London with its later, stable trio format.

Recordings and label history

After the album Sophie, the band signs to the London independent label Moshi Moshi Records. Its first album for the label is Instant Coffee Baby. Later releases include If You Leave It Alone, Beer in the Breakers, which is preceded by the single “Little Surprise”, Long Black Cars, and City Forgiveness. Earlier material also appears on Smoking Gun Records through Sophie.
