The Slow Readers Club
The Slow Readers Club are a Manchester-based indie and electro band active since 2009. Their music ranges from upbeat indie songs to downbeat, introspective ballads, and it is often compared with Interpol, The Killers and Arcade Fire. They are an indie rock and post-punk revival act from Manchester, United Kingdom.
Early releases and attention
The band’s debut single, Sirens, receives critical attention and is played on BBC Introducing, NME, Q Radio and NME TV. Their video for Block out the Sun appears on Coldplay’s website, and their YouTube channel reaches more than 12,500 views.
Background and live profile
The group includes three former members of Omerta. Before joining The Slow Readers Club, those musicians release three singles that receive critical attention and collectability, and an XFM live session places in the top five sessions of the year. The band builds a local following through performances at The Deaf Institute, Night and Day and Friends of Mine festival, and it also receives support from DJs at Manchester club nights 5th Avenue and 42 Street.
