The Rising

The Rising are an alternative rock group formed in 2000 and based in York. The band line-up includes Paul Banks, Stuart Fletcher and David McKellar. Banks is also known for his work with Shed Seven, McKellar for The 88's, and Fletcher for The Seahorses.

Background

The group is described as a 4-piece band from Blackburn in one account, and as having a York base in another. They play alternative rock, with tags also placing them within rock, post-grunge, alternative and modern rock.

Releases

The Rising release their debut album Past Midnight. An earlier version of the band is also described as having an unreleased debut album titled Future Unknown from 2004, and that line-up is said to have been fronted by Michael Lee, also known as Michael Johns, before being dropped from Maverick Records.
