The Narrows

The Narrows is the name used by three different groups: an electro rock band from Manchester in the UK, active from 2010, a band from Bellingham, Washington, active from 1999, and a group from Hillsdale, Michigan, active from 2004 to 2008. The artist tag here refers to the group from the United States.

Bellingham, Washington

The Bellingham band makes music described as dark and heavy, with a glacial quality and a strong sense of band dynamics. Its sound is compared to both Low and Nirvana around the time of Bleach, and it is associated with the wider Northwest rock scene. The group’s thematic base is linked to an automobile accident in which guitarist and singer Justin McIntyre loses one of his legs.

The Narrows releases four records in total. Days Are Numbered and Six-Ten are collected together on a remastered release, and the LP versions are extremely limited, with 140 copies made. Seattle silkscreen artist Tom Dewar designs the covers for that edition.

Manchester

The Manchester group makes dark electro guilt pop. It sings about paranoia, guilt and conspiracy theories, has played T in the Park, and has a free single available through Bandcamp. It also receives airplay on BBC 6 Music and is described as having no contemporaries, with suggestions that it could become another Manchester legend.
