The Maine

The Maine are an American alternative rock and pop punk group from Tempe, United States. Active since 2007, the band’s core lineup consists of John O’Callaghan, Jared Monaco, Garrett Nickelsen, Pat Kirch and Kennedy Brock. O’Callaghan sings and also plays guitar and piano, Monaco is the lead guitarist, Nickelsen plays bass, Kirch plays drums, and Brock plays rhythm guitar.

Formation and early releases

The band begins with bassist Garrett Nickelsen and drummer Patrick Kirch, who form it in late 2006. John O’Callaghan joins after auditions, despite having no prior vocal experience, and the early line-up also includes Ryan Osterman and Alex Ross. The group issues its first release, the Stay Up, Get Down EP, in 2007. Osterman and Ross then leave and are replaced by Kennedy Brock and Jared Monaco.

Later in 2007, The Maine sign to Fearless Records and release the five-song EP The Way We Talk.

Studio albums

The band’s first full-length album, Can’t Stop Won’t Stop, arrives in 2008. Black & White follows in 2010 and sells 22,634 copies in its first week. Pioneer is released in 2011 and reaches No. 90 on the Billboard 200.

Forever Halloween follows in 2013 and reaches No. 39 on the Billboard 200. A deluxe edition is issued in 2014. The band then releases American Candy in 2015, Lovely Little Lonely in 2017, and You Are OK in 2019.
