The Last Dinner Party
The Last Dinner Party are a British band from London, active since 2021. The group consists of Abigail Morris on vocals, L. Mayland on vocals and guitar, Emily Roberts on lead guitar, mandolin and flute, Georgia Davies on bass, and Aurora Nishevci on keys and vocals. Their music sits within art rock, baroque pop, glam rock and indie rock, and they are also described as an alternative rock band.
Formation and name
Morris, Davies and Mayland meet in London in 2020 before starting university, and they form the band after going to gigs together. The group first uses the name The Dinner Party, which is inspired by the idea of a large, decadent gathering and banquet, before changing it slightly to avoid confusion with the Dinner Party hip hop supergroup.
Recordings
The band signs to Island Records before releasing its debut single, “Nothing Matters”, in 2023. Three more singles follow that year. Its first full-length album, Prelude to Ecstasy, is released in 2024.
Style
The Last Dinner Party’s music and live performances are noted for a distinctive baroque-pop sound and visual style.
