The Jasmine Minks

The Jasmine Minks are a British indie pop group from Aberdeen, United Kingdom, active from 1983 to the present. The band is associated with c86, indie pop and jangle pop, and their line-up includes Tom Reid, Adam Sanderson and Jim Shepherd.

Career

The group forms in the early 1980s in London, initially as a trio centred around singer Jim Shepherd. After a demo tape reaches Melody Maker, Alan McGee recruits the band to record for the new Creation label. Their self-titled debut album appears in 1985, and the band records its only Peel session in 1986.

Further albums include Another Age in 1988 and Scratch the Surface in 1989, both of which draw critical acclaim before the band splits. The Jasmine Minks reunite in 2000 and release Veritas, then sign to McGee’s Poptones label for Popartglory in 2001.

Later releases and collaborations

In 2010, the band releases an EP on Jim Shepherd’s Oatcake label. This is linked with collaboration projects involving Sleepyard and Mike Garson, and also a mini-album with APB titled Jaguar.
