The Flowing

The Flowing is a folk and acoustic act from the Medway Towns in Kent. The group performs both as a solo project and as a full band, and its music is described as drawing on world folk, country, reggae and a downbeat sea shanty feel. The act plays regularly across south-east England and London, and also appears on local radio in live sessions and interviews.

Activities and community work

The Flowing takes part in charity events including Oxjam and Music Against Racism. It is also part of Medway Eyes, an umbrella group for artists, musicians and photographers across the Medway towns.

Performances and releases

The group performs alongside other acts at local events, including the Sweeps Festival in Rochester, where it appears with Lupen Crook and Cara Dillon. Its album Garden of England contains fifteen tracks and reflects Dave Pickett’s experiences of life in the Medway Towns.

David Pickett performs vocals, guitar, mandolin, uke, trumpet, accordion and keys. Other members listed are Danial Sams on guitar and keys, Richard Tunbridge on bass, Sophie Williams on vocals, Driver on bass, John Whitiker on trumpet, and Agathe Peyrat on vocals.
