The Feud is a long Island instrumental rock sextet from the United States. The group is described as an instrumental rock band and is associated with electronic, post-rock, alternative rock and indie rock.

Releases and sound

The band releases two full-length albums: The Feud vs yr Universe and Language is Technology. The Feud vs yr Universe is recorded by James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem, while Language is Technology is recorded at Chicago’s Soma Studios and New York’s Rare Book Room. The second album is presented as a breakthrough in instrumental rock and as an example of a maximalist approach to the genre.

The lineup includes Jamie Walker on guitar and vocals, Stephen Mildwater on bass guitar, and Luke Paget on drums.

Other activity and material

The group also releases an EP and singles, including In Between The Lines and It ain't right. It also records a cover of Kate Bush’s Running Up That Hill.

The band performs with a high-energy live style and has played gigs across Europe and the UK from a young age. Its influences range from Soulwax and Rage Against The Machine to Crowded House. The group also works in Los Angeles with Michael Bradford and Tim “The Terror” Anderson on material for its debut album.
