The Copper Family

The Copper Family

The Copper Family is a British multigenerational folk-singing group whose history reaches back to the 1840s and continues into the present. The line-up includes Bob Copper and Ron Copper. The family performs traditional songs from south England and is regarded as the original source for many of the songs in its repertoire.

Style and repertoire

Their performances are mainly unaccompanied, with rough-edged unison and harmony singing. The songs focus on farming, the seasons and country life more generally, reflecting the rural traditions from which the repertoire comes.
