The Atomic Bitchwax
The Atomic Bitchwax is a Long Branch, New Jersey rock group active since 1993. The line-up consists of Chris Kosnik on bass and vocals, Finn Ryan on guitar and vocals, and Bob Pantella on drums. The band develops from a shared background in other major-label groups, with the three members already playing in Godspeed, Monster Magnet and Core when they begin working together.
Style and influences
The band’s sound draws on 1960s psychedelic rock, 1970s riff-driven hard rock and progressive rock, with influences ranging from Black Sabbath to Parliament-Funkadelic. Their approach is described as a players’ band built around the idea of playing whatever they want.
Releases and activity
The Atomic Bitchwax first releases a self-titled record in 1999 on Tee Pee Records. Their catalogue then grows through TAB2, Spit Blood, TAB3, Boxriff, TAB4, The Local Fuzz and Gravitron. Boxriff includes a DVD live show filmed at Seattle’s Sunset Tavern. The Local Fuzz is built around one continuous 40-minute track made up of more than 50 riffs. Gravitron appears in 2015.
