The Answer
The Answer is a UK rock band from Downpatrick, United Kingdom, active since 2000. The group also forms in Newcastle and Downpatrick, County Down, Northern Ireland, and plays hard rock and rock with a classic rock sound built around prominent guitars and strong vocals.
Line-up
The band consists of Cormac Neeson on vocals, Paul Mahon on guitar, Micky Waters on bass and James Heatley on drums.
Style and influences
The Answer draws on 1970s hard rock and the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Its influences include Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy and Deep Purple. Neeson’s voice is compared with singers such as Robert Plant, Paul Rodgers and Ronnie James Dio. In live performance, the band mixes hard rock material with modernised blues covers.
Career
The group wins Classic Rock Magazine’s Best New Band of 2005 award. It plays a Phil Lynott memorial benefit gig in Dublin, and Lynott’s mother allows Micky Waters to open the case of Lynott’s black bass guitar and play it. That instrument appears in the video for “Keep Believin'”.
The song “Never Too Late” appears as a playable track in Guitar Hero IV.
