The Anchoress

The Anchoress is the project of Welsh multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and author Catherine Anne Davies, born in 1985 in Glynneath, United Kingdom. Davies is a singer-songwriter associated with alternative rock, dream pop and indie rock.

Career

Before starting The Anchoress in 2013, Davies self-releases music under her own name and under the name Catherine A.D. The Anchoress makes her debut with Confessions of a Romance Novelist, which is co-produced by Paul Draper and released through Kscope. The album appears in the Guardian newspaper critics’ Albums of the Year list, wins HMV’s Welsh Album of the Year and Best Newcomer at the PROG awards, and receives a nomination for the Welsh Music Prize.
