Stuart Mitchell
Stuart Mitchell is a pianist and composer from Fort Macleod, Canada, born in 1943. He is associated with contemporary folk, folk, folk pop, folk rock, jazz, jazz pop, classical, piano, orchestral and contemporary music.
Career and work
Mitchell is best known for Seven Wonders Suite, a major symphonic work from 2001. The suite is recorded by the Prague Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Mario Klemens, and part of it is performed in the Dvorak Hall in Prague in 2005. It enters the Classic FM Hall of Fame in 2005 and is regularly requested by listeners. In the Classic FM Hall of Fame 2017, the work is placed at number 181.
In 2008, Mitchell releases the first work in his DNA Variations series, in which music is translated from ancestral DNA sequences of various species. Fly - Orchestral Suite, released in 2016, is based on the mitochondrial DNA music of birds and winged beings.
Family and related projects
He is the son of pianist and composer Thomas J. Mitchell. In 2005, Mitchell and his family receive media coverage from Reuters, ITN, BBC, and CNN/Fox News after claiming to have deciphered a musical code carved into the ceiling design of Rosslyn Chapel.
