Stephen Kellogg

Stephen Kellogg is an American singer-songwriter from West Chester, United States, born in 1976. He is associated with acoustic, indie and folk music, and works as a solo artist as well as with several named bands and projects, including Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers, The Stephen Kellogg Band, All Stripped Down and Silent Treatment.

Career

Kellogg begins recording and touring while studying at the University of Massachusetts Amherst from 1994 to 1998. He independently releases several solo albums before signing to Universal Records in 2004. He also founds Stephen Kellogg & the Sixers in 2003.

Songwriting and early influences

His songwriting is shaped by a mix of his father’s records, including Cat Stevens and Jim Croce, and his sister’s records, including Mötley Crüe and Bon Jovi. He combines the songwriting influence of the former with the showmanship of the latter in his own work.

Solo work and band activity

Stephen Kellogg & the Sixers go on hiatus in autumn 2012, after which Kellogg starts work on a solo record in December 2012, described as his first solo release since 2002.
