Skinny Girl Diet
Skinny Girl Diet is a British political punk group from London, often described as riot grrrl. It forms around singer, songwriter and guitarist Delilah Holliday and drummer Ursula Holliday. The band begins as a three-piece with cousin Amelia Cutler, and the three play together after an earlier duo, Typical Girls. The group forms around 2010, while the members are in their early teens. Amelia Cutler leaves in 2017, after which the Holliday sisters continue as a duo.
Name and approach
The name refers to a feminist critique of the dieting industry. The band develops a reputation for an updated version of the feminist art punk associated with the 1990s riot grrrl movement. Its songs and public position address the continuing lack of female musicians in the music industry, alongside broader questions of equality from a contemporary feminist perspective.
Early performances and recognition
Their first live performance takes place in their early teens as support for former Slits guitarist Viv Albertine. In 2015, they appear on Billboard.com’s list of 20 all-female bands to know and feature on the cover of The Beat Magazine’s Spring issue.

The group also contributes work to the “Female Matters” exhibition, which raises funds and awareness for the fight against FGM.
Discography
Their releases include the EPs Girl Gang State of Mind and Reclaim Your Life in 2013, followed by Heavy Flow in 2017 and Ideal Woman in 2019.
