Shoot The Moon

Shoot The Moon are a ska and punk group from Bridgwater, United Kingdom. Active from 2005, they are described as a Bridgwater ska band and as a South West of England unit with a brass-led sound.

Style and sound

The group plays ska-punk and ska-reggae, with their sound also drawing on 2-tone, third wave ska, rock and funk. Their line-up is built around brass, and they are presented as a seven-piece band with a fuller, harmonies-led arrangement.

Formation and line-up

Shoot The Moon begin as a four-piece group, then add brass to the music in 2006. The founding members are Joe, Hen and Scott, who form Bones, leading to the track “New Boner”. Higgs later joins on trumpet to complete the brass element. In late 2007, Mark and Trish join as full members on bass and saxophone.

Live work

The band builds a live reputation through gigs and support slots, and is known for energetic sets. Their performances are also associated with trombone solos and a humorous stage presence.
