Shlomo

Shlomo is a human beatbox artist from Leeds, known for developing original beatboxing techniques, including a two-mic “trancebox” routine. He is one of the key figures behind the global beatbox website humanbeatbox.com and performs with the Vocal Orchestra, a beatboxing choir that is described as one of the first of its kind. He also performs under the name Shlomo and the Vocal Orchestra.

Career and collaborations

He works with a range of hip hop and vocal projects, including the London hip hop group Foreign Beggars, which he also describes as his own crew. He tours with Foreign Beggars and has made a solo appearance on Later... with Jools Holland. He attends the Royal Grammar School, High Wycombe.

In 2004, Björk invites him to beatbox on her all-vocal album Medúlla. He appears on the track “Oceania”, which is commissioned for the Olympic Games Committee and performed at the Opening Ceremony in Athens. That performance is nominated for a Grammy and reaches a very large television audience.

Vocal Orchestra

From 2007, he forms and performs with the Vocal Orchestra, later billed as Shlomo and the Vocal Orchestra. The group continues to perform together, including at the Greenbelt Festival in 2009.
