Sean McGowan

Sean McGowan is a Canadian guitarist for ForeverTree. The name is also associated with a solo folk-punk and protest singer-songwriter project under the same name.

Music and style

His songs are written in an acoustic folk-punk and protest style, and he describes the music as “The Peoples Music”. The material is presented as original songs rather than covers, and it is linked in tone to artists such as Paul Weller, Billy Bragg and Joe Strummer.

Early live work and recognition

He starts gigging in late 2010 with Dean Paul accompanying him on acoustic guitar. Within a short period, he wins a national competition to support Shed Seven at the O2 Academy Bournemouth, takes second place in the Fast Track To Hop Farm competition, which has more than 1,500 entrants, tops the Strummerville DIY chart for over seven weeks, and is voted Unsigned Act Of The Week by a national radio station.

Performing as a duo

Sean McGowan and Dean Paul are also presented as a live pairing, with plans to play gigs across the country and appear at festivals.
