Saturday Sun
Saturday Sun are an English indie acoustic band from Swanage, Dorset, in the United Kingdom. The group forms in 2012 and is active until 2015. It consists of Alex Hedley on vocals and guitar, Billy Merrick on guitar, Tobias Fitton on bass and Allan Varnfield on drums.
Releases and recording
The band releases a seven-track EP, Seagull, in April 2012 on Lazy Butterfly Record. It is recorded at Conversion Studios UK. Their self-titled track from the EP gains critical attention, and the release is placed on the iTunes homepage as a recommended record.
The title track also wins “Q Track of the Day” and appears on the soundtrack of House at the End of the Street and the US teen mystery series Twisted.
Press and sessions
Saturday Sun are invited to record sessions for Daytrotter, Crypt and Watch, Listen, Tell. The Watch, Listen, Tell session receives more than 11,000 hits in one week.
The band’s debut album, Orixé, is released in 2014 and receives strong reviews from the music press, including praise from The Guardian, Clash and The Financial Times. The album artwork is hand-drawn by Adonna Khare.
